BEST SONG/
COMPOSITION

Tyler Cole

'Alive'

A dark and odd but intriguing piece, but a really interesting production that where lyrics perfectly match the feel of the music. Tyler says: "'Alive' is my first song including vocals and is my most popular track so far, being played on Future Radio's breakfast show numerous times as well as 'Indie Rocks Radio' from Manchester. I wrote the song entirely independently whilst attending my L3 Music Production course. Alive takes influence from a wide variety of genres, with an eclectic soundscape and unapologetic lyrics"

BEST SOUND RECORDING
Nikolas Booty

Gabby Rivers' - 'Girl Code'

This is a fantastic, dynamic recording of Gabby’s song over several sessions. This has engaged with the complete pre-production, recording and mixing processes that are essential when working with a solo artist. He has used college-based musicians to perform alongside Gabby's main takes, including himself on drums. As well as a range of well chosen recording techniques Nik mixed the song in the analogue domain, using the Audient 4816 console and outboard equipment. This classic studio approach places Gabby's performance and song front and centre. Here is Nick on the drums. This also won the national award.

Several students nominated this game and you can see why. The game is a well polished thought out puzzle game that uses simple tools and mechanics that build into a larger more refined game. It's already at the point it could be released to a website to be played by the public and has a lot more to offer in the future for this group. As a Level 2 group they have already used a range of skills and software to produce this game and shows how committed they are to the games industry. Their teamwork and commitment to the game is also evident as they have been able to include various different modes.

Izzy has also worked hard on many different projects outside of college, and has a strong and determined ambition to become a music teacher. Izzy is kind, hard-working, sure and confident, organised, meticulous, and a great communicator.

Sam has agreed to work experience with festivals, and has supported other students with their events, and is always keen, but calm and organised.

From one of his peers who nominated him Grace Bailey - "Because Sam has made amazing progress within live sound as well as his attitude towards college... now he comes in every day, always smiling."

MUSIC
STUDENT OF THE YEAR
Millie Barrett

Millie has been a motivated and conscientious learner who gives so much to her course and her peers. Friendly and supportive, she is positive in all she does and is a pleasure to teach.

MUSIC
PROGRESS AWARD
Juliet Price-Thomas

At the start of the year she had no faith in her ability to write songs or complete assignments. She has since written a song that is being touted by Taylor Arter to Cetera’s Ian Johnson and she has performed at Wild Craft to positive reviews and Billie Eilish comparisons, she's got great grades regardless of her dyslexia, she has gained a position with Future Radio and now with Head Out Not Home on Aug 15th. She has worked so hard and especially in light of recent events and how she's handled it, she fully deserves it.

MUSIC
LEVEL 2 AWARD
Rosa Yaxley

Well done to Rosa Yaxley.

Rosa has consistently achieved Distinctions in her assignments throughout the year. On the rare occasions her first submissions weren't at that level, she would resubmit to improve a grade where she could. Rosa has shown an excellent approach to learning this year, allied with a mature attitude and a great work ethic.

GAMES
STUDENT OF THE YEAR
Ruth Dickens and Jack Young

We couldn't choose between them, so we chose two.

Ruth has helped other students, whilst also producing great work this year. She is exemplary. She takes the time to celebrate others, but rarely recognises her own success.

Jack has shown excellent work and team ethic, helping others and making sure they are valued. He pushes himself out of his comfort zone and produces great results.

GAMES
PROGRESS AWARD
Dylan Fyfe

Congratulations to Dylan Fyfe from Games Art Level 3 year 2. Dylan achieved 7 distinctions and 2 merits for his units this year, bringing him up to the entry requirements for his chosen University.

Dylan has put in a tremendous effort this year, working through a number of challenges and resubmissions to get the grade he set out to achieve, Dylan is a kind and hard working student that deserves to achieve these grades and this award.

GAMES
LEVEL 2 AWARD
Joshua Gill Graham

Josh has overcome serious challenges this year through determination to do well and displaying a passion for his subject. His ability to recall and articulate his ideas verbally is excellent and when undertaking practical work has consistently shown he is hands on, creative and ambitious. He has thrown himself into both solo and group game jam assignments. He produced an impressive game demo and animated game cutscene material this year despite having had negative experiences with school in the past. Students enjoy working with him and staff enjoy teaching him as Josh brings such enthusiasm and passion for the course in every session he attends. We feel that Josh is willing to celebrate others' successes but rarely acknowledges his own hard work and achievement - so we hope this award will help him realise how well he has, and will continue to do at Access and beyond.

MEDIA
